Today was a awesome day, Flex Friday!!
I started the day with 32oz of OJ and some BCAA's. Oj really gives me those quick acting carbs to fuel my workout's. I really do feel a difference compared to other meals I've experimented with in the past prior to workout, like eggs and oatmeal, protein smoothies, protein bars, various cereals, and green juices. Today I also had a little extra fire in the tank after someone on facebook deemed me a scam artist for having a donation link on my website and youtube. So in order to please them I deleted them both off those places. I've never been about money in documenting my journey. Sure, would I love to make this my job once I get close to or hit my goal weight? Of course so!! The whole reason for that donation button was to hopefully raise enough to pay for the cost of this website, but it haven't even done that.
So anyway, back to the positives of life. Today;s workout was awesome ... Oh I already said that. We didn't do a whole lot of different things. Tyler had me just do a circuit. His idea was, push the sled, farmer carry, and then ab crunches on that machine. Well that was good, but I added ab crunches in between the sled and the farmers carry. I ended up doing over 160, as I stopped counting at 20 because that's all Tyler wanted me to do. The sled today was the most I've pushed so far at 455 pounds. I got to say that made me feel pretty good!! Farmers carry was 90lbs for each arm. IT's hard to go bigger because the gym doesn't have the equipment for it, but I'm going to figure something out this weekend so we can go bigger. The coolest part of today was the fact that I had very little rest in between the circuits, basically ab crunches were my rest, haha.
Now on to the other stuff, as I mention in the video I gained weight during the month of September, and it really didn't some as a big shock to me. I didn't change much about my diet, as I just wanted to see how going to the gym would effect my body. I have no doubt I lost fat and gained some muscle though. People notice a difference in my body an I can see it too. Although the weight gain explains my back hurting, it always happens when I hit a certain weight. So I pretty much knew it was weight, although with the heavy lifting I wasn't 100% sure.
Now on to my measurements. I wish we would've took them when I started back up at the beginning of the month, but now is a good starting point as well. Neck 23.5" Chest 72" Waist 81" Right Arm 19' Left arm 18.75" This might be the first time I've had my measurements taken since high school, and I sure as heck don't remember what they were then.
Now on to diet as I said in the video, I'm not going raw vegan for this month, in fact I'm not even going to stress about being vegan. I'm not going to buy any meats, cheeses or dairy, but I'm also not going to be reading labels. I found some good chicken and beef substitutes from a company called Beyond Meat. The goal for the first week is 2500 calories with 40-50% Carbs, 40-50% Protein, and the rest fats. I highly believe in a low fat diet as I got rid of diabetes eating low fat and some research backs that up.
I've also set a year end goal to lose 150lbs!! Now I know that is a lot, but I have a lot of weight to lose, so the 1-2 pound rule doesn't apply to me. If I don't hit that goal, and lets say lose 100, I wouldn't be sad. I figured I might as well set the bar super high to help keep that motivation strong. I don't know any other point in my life where I have been this motivated for change. I really do feel I've found my home in the gym!!
